Black Friday!

Really? You are going shopping on Black Friday? Are you nuts?
The drama, the crowds, the early wake up call. You don't need that in your life.
You should come visit us! Smaller crowds, a cheerful staff, and one of a kind gifts. You can't get that at the big box can ya? Quirk will be open 10am to 4pm on Black Friday for your hassle free shopping needs. If leaving the house is off your radar you can always shop online and do an in store pick up!
We've got your back, people.

Thea Clark

We would like to formally welcome our newest addition to Quirk Represents, Thea Clark.

Thea's current work examines how we experience the changing self. Objects are transformed into images on silk through the cyanotype process, rendered in the classic blue of this technique. Chosen for their emotional resonance, pearls, chains, nests, and circles signify protection, domesticity, nurturance, the life cycle. The images are combined with mixed media, including a layer of pink plastic that unifies the structural strata. This pink and blue play on deep seated associations, anima, animus, yin and yang, which are the undercurrents of the fluidity and form we call self.

Be sure to check out all of our Quirk Represents artists for yourself. Come in to see their beautiful work in person or check out their images posted on our website.

Oh Baby Baby!

It's baby season around here, and we want to share the cuteness.
One of our favorite framers, Laura Garrett and her husband have had an adorable baby boy, Benjamin Grayson.
Our New York friend (via Richmond) Carrie Culpepper and her husband also had a brand new baby girl, Marguerite Rose. What a sweet face!
Congratulations on your new bundles of joy!

The Delighted Bite

One of our favorite ex-Richmonders (but seriously, whoreally ever stays away?) Beth Demmon, more affectionately known as "Bethy" here at Quirk has a serious love for burritos. I recently stumbled upon her blog "The Delighted Bite" that covers any and all types of food. Well done, Beth. We miss you!
Beth puts it best in her own words:
The Delighted Bite brings to you the most tantalizing tidbits, salivating spirits, and cunning culinary commentary of San Diego and beyond. I, Beth Demmon, am merely a pupil in the classroom of taste, but nary is there an adventure denied or taste unturned. I cook, I feast, I sing food's praises and wash it down with a hearty beer at the end of it all. Join me in my quest for flavors unfettered and delightful delicacies!
