Our Friends

It's always nice to hear a good word floating around about you.
Our friend Phil (yes, the internet celebrity) sent over a picture of one of his coworker, Ellen sporting one of Katie Kortman's awesome felt headbands.
Phil also introduced a new term into my vocabulary that I'm going to have to be sure and use: fascinator
Disclaimer: (We think Ellen is far cuter than the Wikipedia models)

Saturday Stroll

We're SO ready for warm weather. Right now we're looking ahead to the days we will be able to walk down the street without freezing!

In honor of the coming warmth, our 'hood has decided to celebrate with an ongoing event called Saturday Stroll. The first official "Stroll" will take place Saturday, March 20, 10-4pm, and from then on, every third Saturday of the month. Every venue will have something different scheduled, but some things mentioned have been wine tastings, lunch & drink specials, trunk shows, mural painting, music, and more...

We hope you're as excited as we are! Be sure to let us know if any ideas you have to make these events the best they can be.

Saturdays

Along with the VCU Metals project, we had a super cute Valentine's event at Quirk this weekend. It was a little too busy to be snapping a whole lot of pictures, but early on, I was able to capture the amazing Stacy Moore's set-up. Also, just look at those beautiful orchids from Chadwick's. (You may not be able to see the delicious cupcakes from Ipanema, but trust me. They were a huge hit!)
Does it get any cuter than this? Two thumbs up from the peanut gallery!

VCU Metals for Haiti

So last week's Metal's project to raise some dough for relief efforts in Haiti was a HUGE success. The VCU Metals Department was able to raise $3,750. Big thanks to everyone who came out, and especially all of the students who participated in this wonderful project.

OK, This is the best thing I've heard in a while... We think we love you, AUJEW

Set-up for the VCU Metals dept. jewelry sale to benefit relief for Haiti has begun!

You can't really see it in these pictures, but the work these students have created is incredible.
It's great to see such a wonderful gesture and huge effort being made by everyone participating.

The sale goes through Saturday, February 13 - so come in and check out the work for yourself!
(But these pieces have already sold, sorry... you snooze, you loose!)

DOUGHNUTS!

We Love Lizzie Perkins & we LOVE that she brought us a dozen doughnuts to scarf down. Hello SNOW DAY!

Our City Slickers

So much QT with our favorite Richmond transplants.
It just wore us out completely.
And then there's work...

Celebs

Snow much blogging to do today!
(Pardon the pun)

News flash: We will be postponing our Valentine's event originally scheduled for tomorrow until next Saturday (11am - 4pm). See you then when all of this snow is gone!

On a MUCH lighter note, check out who we were rubbing elbows with this past week in NY.

Spread'n the LOVE all the way to Haiti

What Is Your Heart Made Of?

In the aftermath of the destruction in Haiti, the world is coming together to help Haiti rebuild. Advanced level jewelry/metal students from the VCU Craft/Material Studies department want to contribute in this effort by organizing a jewelry sale and donating the proceeds to the Red Cross.

Quirk will host the sale February 11th-13th. All jewelry pieces are affordably priced and made from a variety of materials that are both precious and mundane, yet all treated with the utmost care and love. Join the opening reception for What is Your Heart Made of? 6-8pm on February 11th here at Quirk. This will be a really fun and thoughtful way contribute in the complex effort of rebuilding Haiti.

Sale dates and times:

Feb. 11, 12-8pm

Feb. 12, 10-5pm

Feb. 13, 11-4pm

. . . and Quirk is back from the snow

Come see us !
We have a fresh and clear parking lot. You don't have to bring your skates anymore.

Happy-ish February!

We will be closed today due to inclement weather.

Unfortunately the Quirk parking lot has become the prototype for the new downtown ice skating rink.
