YOUR TEAM

Our beautiful lady friend Lauren Grant (aka Your Team) has a really, really, really follow-worthy Tumblr blog. She sometimes blogs about things we like to re-blog, like our friend Noah Scalin's Skull-a-Day project.
Noah had an installation at Quirk in conjunction with his first Skulls book, and will be hosting a book signing later this year for his upcoming release. Check out Lauren's post and Noah's blog.

Vadis, her Grandmother, and Mother at First Fridays

Freshly installed and ready to be admired, come in to check out the newest work by Vadis Turner. "Over time ancestral forms of crafts appreciate in value, maturing into heirlooms that function as cultural currency and which later, as artifacts, serve as a documentation of the artist and her origins." Turner has used the traditional ideas of what a Dowry used to be, and adapted them to the modern times. Using found jewelry, vintage clothing, ribbon, and mixed media, Turner has made her own "Dowry."

Thanks for being you!

A great big thank you goes out to all of you who have helped keep this little gallery going through the good times and the not as good times. Without you we would no doubt be shining a considerable amount less brightly. You all are the greatest... here's to another 5 years!

Brian Lopez and Glide Skateboards

Glide Skateboards and Hamilton Glass have teamed up to create a series of beautiful handcrafted skateboards that utilize reclaimed materials and incorporate the gracefulness of surfing into their design. We have been lucky enough to get a wee sneak peak at the show:

If you'd like to further whet your appetite before the Grand Opening on October 1 at 212 W Broad St (7:00 PM!) you can head over to Balliceaux (203 N Lombardy St) for the Splinter Preview Show which takes place from 9/13 through 9/29.

Make sure not to miss the First Friday event as the artists will be raffling off a painting and all proceeds will go to benefit Art 180. So get out there, have some fun, win a painting, and help a good cause!
